In our June Newsletter we are excited to highlight the UDN Site at University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). We welcome you to read articles from Bruce Korf, the Principal Investigator, Kaitlin Callaway, and Tammi Skelton, both site coordinators at UAB discussing barriers to the diagnostic odyssey. Two methods to help mitigate barriers are using aritficial intelligence and RNA sequencing, both highlighted here. As always, we share with you the patient perspective and this issue is no different. Our patients in this edition share challenges that are specific to living in rural America. Finally, we end with this edition with Christin Siscoe who holds a dual role as both a parent living in and a patient navigator supporting others who live in rural areas. Whether you live in a rural, urban or suburban area, the barriers to diagnosis, care and treatment exist for all of us. I would love to hear from you. If you would like to share your journey with others or have a topic you would like us to cover in further newsletters, please email me at [email protected].
