We believe that everyone deserves access to patient-centered research that will lead to a diagnosis and treatment for their condition, regardless of their financial status or where they live.
The Challenges of Rare Research
The rarity and complexity of rare, ultra-rare, and undiagnosed conditions create an incredible challenge for the healthcare system and medical research. Patients often experience a prolonged diagnostic odyssey, enduring uncertainty and misdiagnoses. The scarcity of patients with similar conditions impedes the formation of large study cohorts, challenging the ability to conduct traditional clinical trials and investigations. As a result, discovering new diagnoses, identifying what causes them, and delivering effective treatments for these conditions is a challenge, demanding innovation.
UDNF is Supporting Answers
The UDNF collaborates closely with the Undiagnosed Diseases Network (UDN) to advance patient-centered research and clinical care, enabling undiagnosed patients and families to get the answers they desperately need. Learn more about the UDN and if participating in UDN research is right for you or your loved one.
The UDNF invites you to join its efforts to erase uncertainty. Join our volunteer Innovation Community Council which will ensure patient-driven research thrives to deliver answers and improved outcomes for people living with rare and undiagnosed diseases. We envision a world where everyone in these communities has access to research that will lead to a diagnosis and treatment for their condition. Members will identify research priorities important to the rare and undiagnosed disease community and work with researchers, institutions, and companies to pursue opportunities to advance patient-centered innovation.
